Download Sun's JVM
Version 1.4 or higher required

The following illustrations contain basic information. Subtle variations of presentation may exist from computer to computer while the basic content is the same.


	Do Not Use Microsoft JVM Microsoft Internet Explorer comes bundled with the Microsoft JVM which does not work with WebTycho's Text Formatting Editor. To use WebTycho's Text Formatting Editor you must download and install Sun Microsystems, Inc.'s JVM.

First, find out whether you have the required version.

Select Start > Control Panel.
If you see the coffee cup Java symbol, then you have a version installed. Now let's find out if it is the right one for WebTycho.
Double click on the Java Plug-in symbol to determine whether that version is 1.4 or higher.
Select About. If it is 1.4 or higher then you have the required JVM installed.
If the version is not 1.4 or higher, then return to Control Panel and select Add/Remove programs.
Click Remove beside Java 2 Runtime environment.

Next, install the latest verison.
Even if you have the minimum reauired version, it is a good idea to update the the newest available.

The free download is available in Account Preferences. (It is also available to faculty in the Faculty Center.)
Once downloaded and installed it is a good idea to enable Update Notification which is available in the Java Control Panel.

Once installed make sure browsers are enabled.
